Our Story
Shirley’s Farmers Markets began with a simple idea: bring fresh, local produce directly to the community and create a place where small farmers and artisans could thrive. In 1993, Shirley opened Nevada’s first modern farmers market — a small, hopeful beginning that grew into a beloved local tradition.
Over the years, she expanded to more than ten markets across the region, each one built on the same foundation: community, quality, and supporting local growers.
For more than 30 years, the markets have flourished because of the tireless support of family, friends, and our community. Their dedication is the reason we’re able to continue that legacy today with the Village Shops and Tamarack Junction Casino markets, held every spring and autumn.
What started as one market has become a gathering place for families, farmers, and neighbors — a place where people know each other by name and where local agriculture is celebrated.
We do accept EBT, Senior Nutrition Coupons and some vendors accept WIC. We will not have double up bucks available this summer due to lack of funding and are very sorry. We are hoping that will change.

Our Mission
